Geoffrey L. Braden, MD, is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and Ohio State University Medical School. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honorary society as a junior. He served his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics. He completed a clinical fellowship, followed by a research fellowship, both in gastroenterology, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
He has been a long-time faculty member at Drexel University College of Medicine (formerly MCP/Hahneman School of Medicine), where he is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Braden has been Chief of Internal Medicine at Aria Health since 1993. He currently is Chairman of the Credentials Committee and serves on the Medical Executive Committee at Aria. Dr. Braden has also served as President of the Medical Staff at Aria. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Gastroenterologic Association. Dr. Braden is a nationally recognized leader in Medical Informatics. He is currently the Web Editor for the American Gastroenterological Association and redesigned that societies' web site and also created a moble tool for gastroenterologists. He was just appointed the Chair of the AGA Think Tank on the Future of Practice.
As a member our practice since 1980, Dr. Braden helped to launch and expand GI Specialists. He is the founding editor of the GI section of Medscape, a post he has had held since 2001 (www.medscape.com). His special interests include the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and chronic liver disease.
All of the specialists in our practice are active in professional societies and participate in continuing medical education to keep current on the latest strategies for helping their patients. Each has areas of special interest and expertise while still offering general care for conditions of the digestive system for inpatients and outpatients. All of our doctors are board-certified in the subspecialty of gastroenterology. They have been involved in research, serve on editorial boards and a variety of committees, have published in their field, and have taught and been invited speakers at a number of medical centers.
